Child Month Candlelight Vigil

On May 3rd, the KSAMC joined families, advocates, and members of the wider community for a solemn Candlelight Vigil held in commemoration of the lives of children who died under tragic circumstances. Those who attended will agree that the event was more than a memorial.

It served as a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect the nation’s children and to strengthen the systems of care, safety, and mental health support available to them.

The vigil underscored the urgent need for a more compassionate and protective society, while also renewing calls for meaningful action to safeguard the well-being of Jamaica’s children. Participants reflected not only on the lives lost, but also on the importance of fostering environments where children feel safe, supported, heard, and valued.

The KSAMC remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote child protection, mental wellness, community awareness, and the preservation of spaces that honour the memories of these young lives.
