Downtown Health Expo
On February 25, the KSAMC partnered with the Ministry of Health & Wellness, the National Health Fund, the KSA Health Department and Infinity Medical to host a Community Health Fair at the Jubilee Commercial Centre.
The event welcomed over 150 vendors and members ofthe public from surrounding communities. Residents were able to access a range of free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and HIV testing, as well as consultations with medical professionals who were present on site to provide guidance and advice.
The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) takes this opportunity to thank our key sponsors to include the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM)and Island Grill, for their generous support in making this initiative possible.
We also acknowledge and thank the Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. the Hon. Dr. Christopher Tufton, CD, MP, for his support of this initiative and for the continued partnership with the KSAMC in bringing vital health services closer to ourpeople.
Initiatives such as these must be seen as part of abroader effort by the KSAMC to build healthier, more informed, and moreempowered communities. Local government is not only about infrastructure andregulation; it is also about improving the overall well-being and quality oflife of our residents.
It is therefore our intention to explore opportunities to replicate initiatives like this in other market districts across the municipality, so that more vendors and residents may benefit from these vital services.
