KSAMC Issues Warning Over Destruction of Billboards

The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) has been made aware of incidents where members of the public are deliberately destroying billboards advertising entertainment events. The most recent report was received today along Waterloo Road, across from South Avenue.

This behaviour is wrong and is strongly condemned by the KSAMC. We are calling on individuals to stop engaging in these acts immediately. Members of the public who witness this behaviour are encouraged to take photographs, where it is safe to do so, and report the matter to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

In condemning the actions, Mayor Andrew Swaby said, “Stop it! The entertainment sector, like many other industries, is already feeling the impact of Hurricane Melissa. Acts like these are unhelpful and only increase costs for party promoters who are already under pressure. We have to be sensitive to the wider consequences of our actions.”

The KSAMC will not tolerate the destruction of legally placed promotional material. Where offenders are identified, the matter will be reported to the police.
