KSAMC's Efforts in Supporting Homeless Re-fueled By Petrojam Donation

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) recently received a booster in its efforts to provide for and improve the living conditions of members of the homeless community in the Municipality with a donation of over 1500 personal care items from Petrojam Limited.

His Worship the Mayor of Kingston, Senator Delroy Williams, in a statement, thanked Petrojam Limited and its parent Ministry- Science, Energy and Technology, for the donation which he describes as being a re-fueling of the KSAMC's efforts.

“We often think that care for the homeless means they need food items, but this donation of personal care items was  needed and will help us in ensuring that we can meet all needs and challenges faced by members of the homeless community,” Williams said.

The mayor went further to state that the passion shared by his administration for the less fortunate has been continuously demonstrated in their efforts to forge meaningful partnerships and provide consistent and tangible means of support and advancement for members of the community.

He highlighted that on-going feeding programmes across the city, the Adult Transitional Facility currently in construction, the Church Street shelter and the ongoing vaccination drive are examples of unprecedented support being prioritized by the KSAMC.

Mayor Williams noted that while these undertakings have been difficult given the loss of revenues as a result of the pandemic, he remains committed to the task at hand. He used the opportunity to also laud members of the public and members of the private sector who continue to partner, donate, volunteer and share in the vision.
