Murder of Ms. Colleen Bernard, Former Market Manager, Papine Market
The KSAMC continues to mourn the tragic loss of Ms. Colleen Bernard, former Market Manager of the Papine Market, who was fatally attacked on Friday May 22, while carrying out her duties at the market.
Colleen’s death has deeply affected the KSAMC family, the market community, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
We thank the Jamaica Constabulary Force for their swift response, which resulted in the apprehension of a suspect. The Council continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
Recognizing the impact of this tragedy on staff and vendors, counselling support has commenced and will continue as needed to assist those affected.
We remain in contact with Ms. Bernard's family, and will advise Councillors and staff of the funeral arrangements once they are finalized.
On behalf of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, I extend sincere condolences to all the families, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by the deceased. As a sign of respect, we will observe a moment of silence in their honor.
