This year, Read Across Jamaica Day was celebrated under the theme “Literacy Resilience: Foundation of Nation Building,” I along with a team from the KSAMC, visited the Merrion Road Basic School and Central Branch All-Age School, where we read to students and participated in educational activities. 

I also joined Britney Clarke the reigning Miss Jamaica Festival Queen at the Tom Redcam Library, where I participated in a workshop, under the theme, “Read.Speak. Lead.” The initiative saw young readers participating in activities promoting literacy, self-expression and youth development.

The Deputy Mayor also participated in the Day’s activities. Wherein she visited the St Benedict, Elletson Road and Alpha Primary Schools. 

All schools were given a contribution towards their library and reading programmes.
