Statement from the KSAMC on the Passing of Mr. Don Wehby

The Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation(KSAMC) joins the nation in mourning the passing of The Honourable Don Wehby, OJ, CD—an extraordinary son of Jamaica whose life was marked by service, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to national development.

A titan in business and public service, Don Wehby distinguished himself with humility and decency. His contributions to Jamaica spanned decades and sectors, including his pivotal role in the transformation of GraceKennedy into a global brand and his time as a Government Senator and Minister, where he worked with diligence and integrity.

Don was a family man—devoted to his beloved wife Hilary and their children, whom he spoke of often and with deep affection. His character, shaped by faith, discipline, and compassion, set an example for countless Jamaicans, both young and old.

Mayor of Kingston, His Worship Councillor Andrew A. Swaby, JP, reflected on Mr. Wehby’s passing:

“Jamaica has lost one of its finest minds and most decent souls. Don Wehby led with grace, humility, and purpose. He believed in Jamaica, he invested in Jamaica, and he gave of himself without fanfare. On behalf of the KSAMC, I offer our deepest condolences to his wife, Hilary, their children, and the wider Wehby family. May his life continue to inspire all of us in public service to act with integrity, wisdom, and love for our country.”

The City of Kingston salutes Don Wehby’s legacy and honours the mark he left on our nation. We stand in solidarity with his family and the entire GraceKennedy community during this time of grief.

May his soul rest in peace.
